Case Study 02:
A community play structure designed to provide youth with a dedicated space for play, socialization, and informal gathering. The origami-folded surfaces are constructed with mycelium-based panels that contribute to the filtration of airborne particulates, addressing environmental conditions while creating an engaging spatial experience. The intervention combines recreation and environmental performance, offering a space where young people can gather and play within a healthier outdoor environment.

Roof and Floor Plans Depiction of total overhead  structure  to be entered and climbed on.

SectionsThe opportunity to use the structure at a smaller height allowed for an almost total enclosure for children to enter and play in as well.

Structural rigidity of the form as it unfolds into its final form means it can bear the weight of children to climb and explore while learning about mycellium.
