Case Study 03:
The fitness canopy is designed as a community-oriented intervention with a strong emphasis on wellness and thermal comfort. Overheating is a common concern during outdoor exercise, making heat mitigation critical to reducing the risk of heat-related illness. The canopy provides a dedicated public space for fitness and recreation that can be used according to the community’s needs and schedules, while offering protection from excessive heat and allowing outdoor activity to remain accessible throughout the warmer months.

Site Analysis and Roof Plan Location of new intervention and its respective adjacency to the fields
Occupied Plan
The urban intervention becomes the home for a new outdoor gym center, a social exercise space commonly found around New York.

New fitness equipment is installed within its boundary to provide a cooled opportunity to exercise and promote well being under safe conditions.
